Stamina websites are a way to waste less energy

How many times do we visit a site and then do something else without closing the window? Well, that site continues to exchange data from the server to our computer. It is not expensive to design sites so that they go into stamina mode after a few minutes if there is no browsing.

Suzuki’s Italian site, for example, does this, and has estimated the savings: 20 per cent less than a computer would consume at full speed. Calculating average session times, in one year the final saving is 476,000 Watts, equal to 206.2 Kg of CO2.

It may not seem like much, but if only the top 100 Italian sites were to do it, it would mean 15,625 tonnes of CO2 less, like making about 5,000 cars disappear.

More solutions, less pollution.
